Choosing Body Building Supplements

If you plan on doing body building as more than a “once in a while” hobby, you should think about body building supplements to help you keep your body healthy. It’s probably uncommon to find a highly dedicated body builder who is not using supplement support. The nature of serious lifting places stress and strain on the body which normally cannot compensate and repair/rebuild with the normal production of certain chemicals. All body builders realize they can do it naturally and without support, but it’s an individual choice they make in the end. If you do not currently use supplements, and you want to start; play it safe and have your doctor clear you before you begin taking anything. So in this article, we will cover popular supplements as well as some points you should know about.
Growth Hormones are regularly used by body builders. The class name for it is HGH, and it’s pretty recognized by many serious lifting athletes. This hormone is manufactured and generated by the Pituitary gland in your brain. Once a person hits 30 years old, approximately, the amount secreted begins a slow decline. Well, obviously 30 isn’t old at all – and a lot of body building athletes continue lifting well past that age. There you have it, the main reason so many lifters like taking HGH. The synthetic variety is effective and works, but it’s not quite the same as what occurs naturally.
Yet another effective and popular supplement is NO, or Nitric Oxide. This gas, when produced naturally by the body, helps cells communicate with each other. It increases blood flow, which is very important to body builders. So, if you increase the flow of blood, then you’ll naturally speed-up the availability of other supplements in the body. Also, considering the amount and intensity of serious lifting, there is a greater requirement for NO as well as other supplements.
Next we’ll talk about something that carries more debate, anti-estrogens. Estrogens are the hormones associated with females, and testosterone hormones for men; although both sexes naturally have both with a dominance of one kind depending on gender. There’s a lot going on here, but one thing is that testosterone production is halted by the pituitary by command of estrogen. OK, now testosterone is needed for strength and the ability to keep it. It makes sense, then, that body builders would want to block their estrogen production because they want their testosterone levels to be as high as possible. Talk with your doctor before you pursue this particular line of supplement. For female lifters and body builders – most definitely see your doctor for obvious reasons.
Body building is a fun sport, and there’s a tremendous international community surrounding it. However, it is a highly physically demanding sport, and so that’s the simple reason why so many take supplements. Working out strips your body of vital nutrients and enzymes and most body building supplements are designed to counteract that. Always seek professional medical advice before taking any supplement. Obviously, they can provide the best opinions and data on the subject of supplements.
