You’re bored: You eat. You’re depressed: You eat. You’re stressed: You eat. You’re mad: You eat.
Often, though, you can derail such behavior by doing something else to take your mind off your craving. Here are 20 things you can do to keep your mind off the high-fat food you crave.
- Drink two glasses of water.
- Brush your teeth and gargle.
- Take a walk.
- Take a nap.
- Take a bath.
- Call or write to the person who upset you.
- Go to a movie.
- Buy yourself a nonfood gift.
- Have sex.
- Snack on safe food as an apple, rice cake, or carrot.
- Call a friend.
- Meditate.
- Eat some fruit.
- Leave the building for 10 minutes.
- Play on the computer.
- Catch up on office news with a co-worker.
- Walk to the watercooler, get a drink, and walk back.
- Go to the restroom and splash cool water on your face.
- Review your appointments for the upcoming week.
- Walk up a few flights of stairs.
